A few days ago I whipped up at random some Homemade Protein bars out of ingredients I had here at home. They actually turned out to taste really amazing and they are extremely healthy. I posted it on Facebook and created a flurry of requests to share the recipe…so here it is!
Each Protein Bar Contains
These Homemade Protein Bars I whipped up in no time! I took all the below ingredients and plugged it into MyFitnessPal to come up with a total for the it all. I cut the pan into 25 bars and was able to get a calculations per bar as follows:
6g of Protein
9g of Carbs (1.4g of sugar…I did not add sugar)
9g of Fiber
16g of Fat (0 trans fat)
Each bar is loaded with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium and Iron.
Compare That To Store Bought Protein Bars
So why purchase pre-packaged store bought protein bars that spike your blood sugars and have needless unknown ingredients when you can make your own at home that taste great and adds value to your health! They are so simple, once done just toss them in the freezer and take them out as desired.
The Perfect Snack
They even make a great snack for kids at school (less the nut based ingredients in this recipe) and take them to work when you are feeling hungry. They are also great on your way to play sports or workout.
Here is the Recipe
Mix the following ingredients in a mixing bowl:
1/4-cup Egg Whites
1-cup 2% Milk
6-tsp Crushed Pecans
1/2-cup Organic Golden Flax Seed
1/2-cup Organic Cacao Nubs (raw)
2-cups Natural Almond Flour (whole)
2-packets Quaker Instant Oatmeal Regular
1/2-tsp Vanilla Extract
2-scoups Unicity Complete Vanilla
3-scoups Unicity Complete Chocolate
1-tsp Unsalted Butter (used to grease the pan)
The Final Steps
Put the mix into a flat pan and spread evenly. Pre-heat the oven to 350Deg F and put in oven. It will take approx 15 mins checking often with a toothpick to see if the center is cooked.
Let cool, cut into bars and enjoy! I put them in a freezer bags for storage and now take them out to enjoy as a dessert or snack. It tastes amazing! Next time I am going to try adding a little honey to it…if you have a sweet tooth it might just be that additional ingredient you need.
